About the Conference
The 2022 PDLN Vienna Conference’s motto is "Changing Times". It is about the ongoing rapid changes in the publishing and media monitoring industry. The conference will give insights about recent developments influencing the market and business of of media and media monitoring. We will hear from our speakers about how legislation frameworks can support publishers and rightsholders to gain more control about the use of their content as well as speakers giving answers to questions like what new services, structures and cooperations we might see in the years ahead and how media companies will approach disruptive technologies and future innovations.
The PDLN conference is an event for senior news licensing organisation executives from PDLN members, other licensing bodies and media monitoring and evaluation businesses. We meet in an informal setting, numbers are limited to around 70, allowing excellent networking and interactive discussion on topics of interest including market developments, legal changes and how technology is driving business change. Just as important it will allow delegates time and space to share ideas, developments and experiences from around the world. Non-members can join for the Sunday dinner, for the last session on Monday (from 4.30), the PDLN Gala Dinner on Monday and for the conference on Tuesday.
The event will NO LONGER have full online access as a backup should COVID or other events intervene, and as an alternative for those who cannot or choose not to travel for other reasons. (The online option has been cancelled due to limited take up)
The conference fee is low (PDLN is not for profit), just e300, online or in person. Registration is by a simple email to PDLN

Dinner – Sunday
Heuriger Schübel-Auer
Kahlenberger Strasse 22, 1190 Vienna – Nußdorf
'Heuriger' means 'this year’s' and implies 'this year’s wine'. The Viennese tradition of going to a Heuriger goes back to the middle ages when winegrowers would sell their youngest wines directly in the vineyard. Schübel-Auer with one of the oldest guest gardens at the foot of Nussberg mountain is one of the most beautiful traditional Viennese ‘Heuriger’. The original building was built in 1642 and has been run as a wine tavern since 1711, now in the tenth generation of the family.
Ludwig van Beethoven moved into the house two doors down in 1817. There have been numerous sightings of his ghost in the tavern, and there are stories about the great composer sneaking in through a secret tunnel at night to have a nip or two. We cannot corroborate any of these local myths, but you are free to investigate on your own.
PDLN Conference Dinner – Monday
Vestibül im Burgtheater
Universitätsring 2, 1010 ViennaVienna’s Burgtheater, known to the city’s inhabitants simply as the “Burg”, furnishes the splendid setting for the Vestibül restaurant. The theatre’s vestibule, from which the restaurant takes its name, consists of the imperial coach entrance and the adjacent marble hall.
The “imperial” rooms of the building – including the entrance on the Volksgarten side of the theatre (now the Vestibül restaurant) – were reserved for Their Majesties. The Vestibül was the private coach entrance for Emperor Francis Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) when they attended performances at the K. K. Hofburgtheater (Imperial and Royal Court Theatre). A stairway led from the marble hall directly to the theatre’s imperial loge. The restaurant’s interior design has been completely preserved in its original state and is protected as a historic monument.
